Human Temple ‘Halfway To Heartache’

This is the band’s third album since starting out in 2004 and if you like melodic hard rock in the style of Treat, Pretty Maids, Edge Of Forever et al you need a copy of this CD. The opening salvo of ‘I Will Follow’ (check out the keyboard solo on this one) and ‘Bleeding Through’ have enough hooks to hang a whale on them! Vocalist Janne Hurme has a lovely, rich, powerful voice that suits the music brilliantly. ‘Like The Beat Of A Heart’ will delight the aforementioned fans of Pretty Maids and Treat, whilst another hard rocking tune ‘Some Things Are Never Long Time Ago’ features Nightwish’s Emppu Vuorinen laying down a nifty guitar solo. There is a one cover, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Little Lies’ which gets a modern makeover and shows a good tune can be done in many ways and still sound fresh. They do the slower numbers as well, pick of these is ‘Our World Our Time’.

A memorable and enjoyable melodic hard rock album, the only downside is the album sleeve one of the poorest I have seen for a wee while.
