LOS ANGELES, CA – February 29th, 2012 — Breaking British band The Dunwells brought their Americana/rock/folk/soul sound to L.A.’s Hotel Cafe last night, and in the audience was writer/director Cameron Crowe who won an Academy Award for his screenplay of “Almost Famous.” Introducing himself to the band after the show to tell them how much he liked their music, he tweeted this morning “The Dunwells! Have arrived. 1st LA show at Hotel Cafe stunning…great songs played w/ everything they’ve got…so much fun to root for em.”
And then there is influential American music industry veteran Robert Lefsetz who practically gushed about The Dunwells in his Lefsetz Letter on Sunday after seeing them at last week’s Folk Alliance Int’l in Memphis. “Utterly astounding!”, he wrote. “I was sitting inches away and my jaw dropped. FIVE PART HARMONIES? They sang about love, they sang about hope, and I’m electrified just thinking about it.”
The Dunwells’ debut album, Blind Sighted Faith was released in the US earlier this month, and they have just started their first-ever U.S. tour. As part of the tour, the band will hit New York City next Wednesday, 7th March at Mercury Lounge, and will play four shows at SXSW.
