GRTR! scribes May playlists:
Dio – Holy Diver/Last in line/Sacred heart reissues. Essential classic 80’s rock with some lovely bonuses.
Thin Lizzy – Nightlife/Fighting reissues. Essential 70’s rock (Nightlife a lot of funk) with bonus tracks. Nicely cleaned up…
JSS – Damage control. Sing-along rock with a heavy guitar edge. Good songs with a great voice and ripping guitar solos.
End of September – S/T. Female-fronted band that neatly bridges the gap between Within Temptation and Evanescence. Well worth a listen.

Estrella – Come Out To Play Debut album by young Scots hard rockers – if you like Shy, Def Leppard, late 80′s Uriah Heep you’ll love these guys.
Jamie Hartman ‘III’ still playing this one! Perfect mellow pop/rock and uplifting melodies.
The Wonderstuff – If The Beatles Met Hunter… picked-up as an EBay bargain, a band you only need a ‘best of’ by but some great songs on here.
Arjen Lucassen – Lost In The New Real less metal than Ayreon but more musical variety and songs crying out for daytime radio – if only they would play them.

FOGHAT – Live / Stone Blue (2012)
2-on-1 recent reissue that includes 1978′s Stone Blue, one my favourite ever albums, classic rock with some of the best slide guitar you’ll ever hear.
MOLLY HATCHET – Double Trouble Live (1985)
More stadium rock than southern rock but still a truly fantastic live album, and always enjoyable.
AC/DC – High Voltage (1975)
Debut album that still sound fresh and not too cliched. Love Song, Soul Stripper and the cover of Baby Please Don’t Go all great.
Danny Joe BROWN – Danny Joe Brown (1981)
Molly Hatchet vocalist’s sole solo album and one of the best southern rock albums – ever.
GIRLSCHOOL – Take A Bite (1988)
One of the band’s best and most underrated – great songs throughout.
Joe Geesin

Shinedown – Amaryllis
Excellent new album from Shinedown – maybe a little bit too commercial…
· Fiona – Unbroken
Welcome back to Fiona after all these years. Also dug out my tapes of her first two albums from the loft…
· Halestorm – The Strange Case of…
Female fronted modern American rock – think Paramore crossed with Shinedown with a hint of Garbage.
· Meat Loaf – Hell in a Hand Basket
Mr Loaf’s latest…it’s a grower..but not convinced about the rapping…
· Epica – Requiem for the Indifferent
The mighty Epica return
· Trixter – New Audio Machine
Another welcome back – highly enjoyable return from Trixter
· Terraplane –Black & White
Finally got it at a sensible price on CD..shame the second album was so naff…well at least we got Thunder as a result.
· Van Halen – A Different Kind of Truth
Still trying to get into this…not convinced. Stay Frosty is cool though.

Old Ironsides – The Path Of Madness - Excellent new album from this Chicago outfit. If you like a bit of prog metal, this release is well worth tracking down
Instill – The Hooligan Factor - Not a full album, but an EP which drew a 5/5 review from me recently. Excellent rock with a good sense of humour and some of the best packaging I have seen in a while including a comic strip on the inside cover. Impressive stuff.
Volbeat – Beyond Hell/ Above Heaven - The latest slab of excellence from the Danish rockers. If you haven’t hear them yet I recommend you do so as soon as possible. Currently touring extensively in the states, world domination beckons, only the UK appears to be slow to catch on. Get in ahead of the rush !!
Lechery – In Fire – I got a copy of this album to review last year and it has remained a constant since then, power metal at it’s best. It made my best of 2011 what more can I say.
Saxon – Greatest Hits – 19 glorious tracks from one of the all time greats. Looking forward to seeing them at Download, will it rain, will it snow, will it shine, we don’t know ….
