Gonzo Multimedia 2012
Michael Des Barres has had a stop/start musical career having been a member of Silverhead, Detective, Chequered Past and Powerstation (after Robert Palmer had left), although he has had notable success as Murdoc in TV’s ‘MacGyver’. This new album is the first under a band handle and as the title suggests tips its musical hat to the swinging 60’s.
On the title track it sounds like a Rolling Stones classic – riffing guitars and some screaming vocals from Michael Des Barres. Slightly dodgy listening to him singing ‘Route 69’ as he is old enough to be my dad! The lyrics would make even Mr Coverdale blush I am sure.
The autobiographical ‘My Baby Saved My Ass’ is an album highlight and ‘You’re My Pain Killer’ should grace any blues radio show.
Not a bad album, the band play up a storm but the songs lack that magic to bring you back again and again.

I have to say I disagree
There are no lyrics that would make any one blush so not sure you are listening to the same album as everyone else.
The album is one of the best I have heard for a long time.
It is fresh vibrant good singalong summer music and tracks like “Forgive me” and “From Cloud 9 To Heartache” are great party foot tapping dancealong tracks.
Seeing all the old rockers being lazy and knocking out greatest hits albums it is a breath of fresh air to have a new album for the daily commute. If you like Rock music Go buy it and I am sure you will be delighted as I am.
