Spinefarm Records
Release Date – Out Now
This new release from Rob Zombie brings together a number of his biggest tracks but fully remixed by a variety of DJ’s. The phrase ‘DJ Remix’ usually has me running for the hills and to be honest a few of the tracks here most definitely weren’t to my taste, ambient drum and bass being my idea of hell.
There are a few interesting remixes though like album opener ‘Thunder Kiss ‘65’ which has been remixed by JDevil , the alter ego of Jonathan Davis from Korn, which retains a rock element to it. Another one of note is ‘Devil’s Hole Girls’ remixed by Tobias Enhus and featuring the Jane Antonia Cornish String Quartet which adds a different dimension to the Zombie sound.
I’m not sure how much these remixes add to the tracks as the original Rob Zombie sound is processed and remixed to begin with. It could however, open up Rob to a new audience, I could imagine this being pumped out of a Vauxhall Corsa on your local high street, which would be no bad thing. One then for the avid collector or the local car-park cruisers perhaps.
