BONRUD – Save Tomorrow

Paul Bonrud is back some eight years after his rather good album released on Frontiers. Now he has a new label and has the legendary producer Keith Olsen co-producing the album, so no issues on the sound quality then! Vocalist Rick Forsgren really adds some power to the songs and other guests include on keyboards Eric Ragno and Richard Baker (Santana/Saga).

This album has a harder rock edge than the debut although there are still some sheer melodic rock bliss moments like ‘Dominoes’, whose harmonies and upbeat chorus hark back to the classic ‘Leap Of Faith’ of the debut album. ‘You’re The One’ is the sort of song Bryan Adams should be penning, again it features a massive chorus and then you have ‘Save Tomorrow’ which brings the tempo down. ‘We Collide’ and ‘Bullet In The Back’ are sleak hard rock tunes, showing off the guitar and vocal talents of Bonrud and Forsgrfen respectively. There is even some modern rock in ‘Liquid Sun’.

This has been a labour of love by Paul Bonrud and it has paid off big time. Special mention to the comic book artwork which nicely rounds off the whole package. For catchy, memorable hard rock tunes look no further.

Bonrud is a project headed by multi-instrumentalist Paul Bonrud, with vocals provided by Rick Forsgren.  This is the outfit’s second release, albeit the first incorporating Forsgren, with legendary producer Keith Olsen working his magic on the sound.

This is a great melodic rock album with heavy guitar riffs, yet uplifting vocals and choruses.  The sound is fantastic and the songs are all well performed.  The album is one which becomes more addictive after each listen.

An album with a lot of energy, chunky guitar and melodies in spades.  Melodic rock worthy of your attention.
