Best of 2012 with CHRIS SINGLETON

Chris Singleton played his first band gigs in a couple of years recently and the recording of album number three is ubnder way…

Gig review

What have you got planned music wise for next year?

To finally finish off album 3! It’s taking ages, but that’s what babies do to you.

What was it like playing with the band after a long break? How did the gig in Poland go?

It was good fun. Need to do more shows. Gig in Poland was tremendous. Probably the largest crowd we’ve ever played to, and one of the most appreciative. They forgave my pigeon Polish – I hope…

You’ve done a fair few online gigs. Have these been successful in that you’ve gained new fans? Is it strange performing but to no applause and the audience reaction coming from chat room comments?

I’m not sure about gaining new fans, but it’s a great way to engage the existing ones. I have listeners up in places like Glasgow and Newcastle which for one reason or another I never get round to actually playing. So it’s a good way for them to hear me do a live thing.

Top five albums.

1 Lettie – Good Fortune Bad Weather (you should really check it out – quality songwriting!)

2 Air – La Voyage Dans La Lune

3 Menomena – Moms

4 Gaz Coombes – Here Come The Bombs

5 Chris Helme – The Rookery

Top DVD.

Breaking Bad Box Set.

Top gigs.

Post baby, I don’t go out any more. So I’ve not been frequenting gig venues much. But I’m looking forward to seeing the reformed Stone Roses next year in Finsbury Park.

Best re-issue.

Velvet Underground and Nico

Highs and lows of 2012.

High – playing in Poland probably.

Low – the fact that my guitar went out of tune on a couple of numbers there.

Any tips for bands/musicians to keep an eye on in 2013?

Lettie. She’s great. Www.lettiemusic.com
