NASVILLE PUSSY – From Hell To Texas: Live and Loud in Europe

SPV

Nashville Pussy has re-mastered and re-sequenced their well received 2009 album “From Here to Texas” and added a 16 track live disc to bring us “From Hell To Texas – Live and Loud in Europe”. This two disc delight is bound to appeal to fans of the band, but will no doubt attract a heap of new listeners to the hard living, hard drinking and hard rocking band.

If you were to take a box and put Iggy in one corner, Alice Cooper in another, Motorhead and early ZZ Top in the other two- at the centre point you would find Nashville Pussy. Great song titles such as “Dead Men Can’t Get Drunk” and “Lazy Jesus” are just the start. The vocals on title track “From Hell To Texas” are like a rough edged Cooper, “Stone Cold Sober” is stone cold Southern Boogie and the afore mentioned “Lazy Jesus” is blues soaked. “Give Me A Hit Before I Go”, “Speed Machine” and “Why Why Why” are virtually essential listening and for the casual listener, you begin to wonder what the band would sound like live……

So to disc two, 16 live tracks from the band that are fast, furious and faithful to the studio versions- and each one packing some serious attitude. The title kinda gives away the fact that the live material was captured during the band’s European shows and also goes to show that Nashville Pussy have a very healthy following outside of the US. Tracks like “Piece of Ass”, “Hate and Whisky”, “Drunk Driving Man” and newer tracks “Why Why Why” and “From Hell to Texas” show exactly how the band have managed to built such a  following .

If you’ve never heard Nashville Pussy, I would recommended “From Hell To Texas – Live and Loud in Europe” as a fine starting point.
