Eagle Vision
American rock band The Doobie Brothers formed in the late 60s and had several hit albums and singles in the 70s and 80s. They were known for numerous guitars and vocals, plenty of harmonies (but more electric than CSN&Y).
This DVD takes us through the band’s history, from the formation and record deal to the touring, line-up changes and highs and lows.
It is a well filmed documentary, with interviews with band members Michael McDonald, Jeff Skunk Baxter, Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnson and others, as well as manager Bruce Cohn and producer Ted Templeman.
The main set is largely interviews with background music, the live shots are, as is typical on such documentaries, short because of licencing. But it is informative and enjoyable if you are interested in the band. The music is great too.
And as a bonus there a 9 full tracks as a special feature, giving a full running time of nearly 2 ½ hours. Good value and well packaged.
