FIVEFOLD – The Story

Self Release (Release date – Out now)

St Louis 5 piece Fivefold have had a lot of success in the states playing headline shows and various festivals. This is the band’s debut album and they have produced a bit of a cracker.

Kicking things off is ‘Broken’ which is a Black Stone Cherry/ Shinedown style rocker with a strong vocal and great harmonies. One of the main features of the band are the vocals of frontman Ryan Cheney who has a strong, soulful voice which is well demonstrated on the quieter numbers especially ‘ The Reckoning’ on which he excels.

The songwriting throughout is impressive with good harmonies and choruses coupled with strong playing. There is plenty of light and shade as well to hold the listeners interest whether it is the laid back title track ‘The Story’ or the full on rock of ‘Fighting Madness’ all are delivered with great aplomb.

With the right promotion and decent support tours there is no reason why Fivefold can’t follow in the footsteps of Shinedown and BSC and be the next big thing, I will watch with interest.
