earMusic (Released 25th February)
Coma hail from Poland and are a big name in their homeland. They will be hoping to break into the wider world with this new album, their sixth to date and their second album sung entirely in English.
It is a mixed bag with two must hear songs. First is the single ‘With You’ (make sure you check out the video on YouTube), featuring an instant chorus and blissful harmonies, very pop rock compared to the rest of the album. It has some bizarre lyrics as well such as ‘our poultry outside the window’ (although that could be my poor hearing!). ‘Rainy Song’ could be another future single, again an instant chorus and recalling modern rockers like Cold or Theory Of A Deadman.
The band up the metal quota on ‘Dance With A Queen’, a real sleazy metal treat whilst ‘Keep The Peace’ features clean metal riffs and a strong vocal. The album does dip towards the end, perhaps cutting down to 10 or 11 songs would have made it a stronger album overall.
They will definitely achieve their aim of reaching a wider audience as they have plenty of airplay friendly modern metal tunes.
