EDGE OF ATTACK – S/T
Spread the Metal Records
Edge of Attack is a Canadian outfit touted as “power thrashers”. This is the quintet’s debut release.
“In Hell” opens proceedings and the opening riff combined with relentless percussion immediately grabs one’s attention. Edge of Attack is fronted by Roxanne Gordey and her vocals blend well with the music on offer, providing a soothing aspect to the band’s sonic onslaught. I don’t see the band as power thrashers – this work is far too melodic for that – instead, they should be classified as power metal. There are nods to Nightwish here and there (especially when Jurekk Whipple throws in his harsh vocal), but the music is not as dramatic…
Good songs, great melodies (the album ends with a great guitar solo), Edge of Attack has produced a debut that they can be proud of. Highly recommended for power metal fans.
