Frontiers (Released 21st January)
Jorn Lande is back with a new album, albeit it the songs you will have heard before but this time he has added a full orchestra and different musical arrangements. There is one unreleased song his cover of the Dio classic ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Children’ which strangely enough is the weakest link on the album.
Listening to Masterplan’s ‘Time To Be King’ or ‘I Came To Rock’ and you get an idea of what Kamelot would sound like with Jorn at the mic stand. Both are glorious symphonic metal beasts and Jorn sings up a storm. The gentler songs ‘The World I See’ and ‘Behind The Clown’ bring to mind West End/Broadway songs with their big production values. Now there’s an idea ‘Jorn – The Musical’ :)
Lasse Jensen is responsible for the string and orchestral arrangements, and along with Jorn’s vocals, is the star of the show. Oh and make sure you listen to Black Sabbath’s ‘The Mob Rules’, this takes Sabbath’s music into a whole new dimension.
After the so so reception to his last studio album Jorn has come back with a powerful album and lets hope this spurs him onto a classic solo album like us fans know he is capable of. Until then grab this as it really is a special treat for fans.
