THE RECOVERY! Wherever Nowhere Takes Us

(Released February 11th)

There’s something very admirable about intimate record labels, and Glasgow based Cold War Legacy have shown just that with the release of their recent EP “Wherever Nowhere Takes Us” from hardcore rock’n’rollers The Recovery!

Whilst it may not have quite reinvented the face of music, for the upcoming quintet it’s a successfully lethal 13 minutes of heavy metal bliss, enough to shoot your adrenaline up in the first few bars of opening track “Krokodil”.

It manages to avoid what a lot of metal artists do these days, which is creating a 15 minute Frankenstein album of several similar sounding songs stitched together into screaming mess – by putting melodic tracks like “The Faint & Fragile” and “Taking Care of Business” between the more hardcore sounds that the EP starts with, it creates a somewhat balanced mix that would get your heart pounding rather than your head.

As nice as it is to have albums churned out by our favourite artists once every year, it’s refreshing to hear something short and intimate; and whilst it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, for those who love a bit of almighty melodic metal “Wherever Nowhere Takes Us” is a short but sweet taste of something we’ll hopefully be hearing more of in the near future.
