Album review: GIUNTINI PROJECT – IV

Giuntini Project

Escape Music www.escape-music.com

Album number four from the project run by guitarist Aldo Giuntini and the first for Escape Music, the third album having been released by Frontiers back in 2006. Former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin is still involved and it is his singing that lifts the album, certainly making it a must have for fans of his singing.

The music is a mix of Martin-era Sabbath riffs and Dio like ‘Born In The Underworld’, a real Dio-esque rocker if ever there was one. Some riffs do sound overly familiar, ‘Shadow Of The Stone’ reminded me of a late 80’s Whitesnake tune.

The album features a couple of tasty instrumentals too, with ‘The Rise and Fall of Barry Lyndon’ a real standout beating Iron Maiden at their own game. The duet with Liz Vandall on ‘Bring On The Night’ sounds like an updated Rainbow, great fun.

Those who have enjoyed the previous albums will doubtless like this latest instalment and there are some good songs on here for those after a Sabbath/Dio fix.
