Two Sides Moon (Release date – Out Now)
Daniel Trigger has been producing music for many years both as a solo artist and as part of the band Trigger who found some minor success in and around the Midlands of England. The band was put on hiatus in 2011 after which Daniel forged a solo career and ‘Army Of One’ is his second release under his own steam.
Daniel’s musical interest was piqued in his teenage years when he heard ‘The Final Countdown’ by Europe during a visit to a planetarium and he knew that was what he wanted to do. Musically that is the path he has travelled down playing hard melodic rock reminiscent of Europe at their rocking best. Trigger is a bit of a one man band in the studio taking care of all duties apart from guitar solos, which are handled by long-time associate and esteemed session guitarist David D’Andrade, and drums which are played by Terry Sadowski.
There is a lot to like here, big songs with even bigger choruses all laced with melody and harmony. ‘Unbreakable’ starts the album with big riffs and layered vocals which impress from the off. There are a number of different styles incorporated across the album from ballads to tracks that border on power metal but all are well crafted and Trigger’s vocal range copes well in all situations. D’Andrade’s guitar work is also top notch throughout. The top track for me is ‘All Fall Down’ which starts as a bit of a slow burner before developing into a full-on metal ending with a big hooky chorus.
With the right promotion, possibly within AOR circles, this album could become a bit of a cult classic. Trigger has proved himself a strong songwriter and a talented musician. It’s been many years since Daniel’s trip to the planetarium but who knows, perhaps he may be the next rising star?
