Album review: 3 WHEELER BAND – Smoke N’ Groove

3 WHEELER BAND – Smoke N’ Groove

Self Release  [Release date -   Out Now]

3 Wheeler Band are a trio from Monterrey, Mexico and formed in 2010. Smoke N’ Groove is their debut album. They claim to ‘return to the basics and foundations of rock and roll’, naming bands such as ZZ Top and Clutch as influences.

Adrian Giron, vocals and guitar, Jose Maldonado, drums, and David Carrillo, bass, most definitely serve up an album of powerful rock and roll.

The album starts well bursting into life with ‘You Ain’t That Lucky’, great guitar work and gruff vocals. The vocals set this band apart as such gruff vocals are usually heard in death metal. I like the effect of Adrian’s voice though except on track 7, ‘Purple Light’, where I felt they did not suit the song at all, a slower, more grungy track.

Track 8, ‘Smokin’ Groove is an instrumental track, energetic and bouncy and ‘Beg For Mercy’ does indeed make you do so, it goes on and on and on.

3 Wheeler Band have produced a very enjoyable rocking album, one to listen to again.
