AOR Heaven [Released 28.11.14]
New album “Adrenaline Rush” is the first to find ex-Accept/Bangalore Choir vocalist David Reece at the helm and with it Wicked Sensation have released an album jam packed with melodic greatness – guitarist and chief songwriter Michael Klein has recruited well.
Opening track “King of The World” is a big statement of intent and from there on in the album’s eleven tracks does not contain a weak moment. On tracks such as “King of The World” and “Angel In Black” Reece’s vocals have echoes of Bruce Dickinson and there are Whitesnake and Deep Purple like moments throughout (particularly the Purple-like “This Time”).
“Misery” would make a great single and would no doubt raise the band’s profile. The highlights here, for me, are “Living On My Memories” and the big, bruising “No More Lies”, the latter with probably the outstanding guitar solo of the album. The musicians in Wicked Sensation, allegedly named after the debut Lynch Mob album, work extremely well together and there is a stunning blend of keyboards and guitars on “Desperate Nation”.
“Adrenaline Rush” was produced by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69) and features appearances from the likes of Harem Scarem’s Harry Hess on backing vocals and Graham Bonnet’s keyboardist Eric Ragno.
With “Adrenaline Rush” Wicked Sensation can be assured of appearing in many top 10 lists of 2014. ****
