NIAMH CROWTHER
www.niamhcrowther.com
Niamh Crowther came to prominence aged 16, when she beat over 15,000 other young people to claim the prestigious Youth Music Awards in Ireland. She has received lots of airplay on Irish radio and has transferred this success over to the UK, Europe and US.
This EP has four songs including the gorgeous single ‘Little By Little’ and the upcoming ‘I’ll Be’ – amazing singing on this one. Both highlight her angelic voice and . The other two songs on here are ‘Painkillers’, a spars acoustic tune and ‘Origins’, which you can download for free off her website. The latter reminded me a little of Nanci Griffith, one of my favorite female singers.
All four songs on this self-titled EP draw the listener in with her siren like vocals. Off you go now and download ‘Origins’, then buy this EP. A young talent and a name we will surely here more from over the coming months and years. ****

MIKE MILAN DEDIC
www.cdbaby.com/cd/mikemilandedic
Mike Milan Dedic is a Canadian guitarist who has just released his debut EP/mini-album. There are five instrumentals on here and each one shows Mike Dedic is no slouch in the guitar playing department. ‘Energy’ and ‘Run!’ reminded me a little of Steve Morse, no overt shredding or widdly soloing, instead all driven by melody. The drum/click track backing is a tad annoying on repeated listens, however this is self-financed and you can’t be too harsh on that point. Certainly worth investigating further and what next for Mike Dedic, perhaps he will be tapped up by a band? A guitarist to keep a watch on. ***1/2

THE BLACK BULLETS Bombshell
New EP “Bombshell” from Basingstoke five piece The Black Bullets is on this year’s essentials list for me. Hard edged sleaze that reminds me in part of Hanoi Rocks- not sound wise, apart from the odd flash of guitar here and there, or visually but in attitude- and this EP is full of that.
Speaking of guitars, the combined work of Lance Skybaby and Skinn Click should please anyone who is currently riding high on the recent Guns n Roses reunion. Combine this with the powerful rhythm section of bassist Alex Barrett and drummer Carl D and add the punk n’ roll vocals of Billy T and the resulting product is immense.
All fours track here pack a punch and it is difficult to single out any one above the other. The Black Bullets clearly have the knack for writing tunes that stick in your head- “Bombshell” and “Firefly” can stay in there for days at a time. Then you get “Riding Shotgun” with a great singalong chorus or “Suicide Kid”, then you realise that you need to hit iTunes and download this and the bands’ previous EP’s.
“Bombshell” is a great CD and will hopefully open the band up to the success they should be enjoying. *****
