GRTR!’s David Randall caught up with Glenn recently to chat about the album and his music, playing tracks from ‘Resonate’ and other career highlights. This special feature was first broadcast on Sunday 30 October at 22:00 GMT in the first hour of David’s weekly show.
In late 2015, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame based in the USA, announced that Deep Purple including MKIII, were finally to be inducted after several previous nominations over the years. This was a culmination of a 40+ years career which saw Glenn Hughes leave his indelible mark in several musical endeavours and bands, including Trapeze, Deep Purple, Hughes/Thrall, his collaborations with Gary Moore, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and most recently with Black Country Communion and California Breed.
In the past couple of years Glenn concentrated again on his solo career with constant touring throughout 2015, and shows in South America, Europe, UK, Japan and Singapore.
On 4 November, Glenn’s first solo album in over eight years will be released via Frontiers. “Resonate” features his live solo band members, Soren Andersen (guitars and co-producer), Pontus Engborg (drums) and newcomer to his band, Lachy Doley (keyboards), in addition to long-time friend and drummer, Chad Smith (of Red Hot Chili Peppers), who joined them in the studio for the opening and closing numbers.
The album will be available in two configurations: regular CD and deluxe edition including one bonus track and DVD including a ‘making of’ documentary. A vinyl release will be made available via Frontiers’ partners Soulfood Music.
Glenn Hughes has been forced to cancel his UK and European tour after the co-headliner Living Colour booked a conflicting support slot on Alter Bridge’s European tour. Glenn Hughes was planning on touring Europe in support of his upcoming solo album, ‘Resonate‘.
When word got to promoters that Living Colour were no longer planning to perform on the co-headline dates, they were forced to refund all tickets. All ticket holders of Glenn Hughes’ UK and European tour will be offered refunds at the point of purchase and can call the venues for more information.

Says David: “In researching this feature I realised that the last time I spoke to Glenn was almost exactly ten years to the day, in October 2006. It is therefore timely to gain an update with the new solo album. Of course, we’ve always been strong supporters and we have many album and gig reviews in our 10-year plus archive which coincides with Glenn’s great renaissance in terms of his music.”

Ah, it made me feel nostalgically. I used to be a big fan of Deep Purple and Glenn made a significant contribution to their work. They are just kings of heavy metal. Good to know that old school rock is still alive.
Found list of Top 100 classic rock songs http://ultimateclassicrock.com/tags/top-100-classic-rock-songs/ and understood that it is my playlist! I already bought my tickets to RCHP concert in NY as a part of their ‘The Getaway’ RHCP tour 2017 http://livetourtickets.com/red-hot-chili-peppers-2017-tour-tickets/ but now wondering about a trip to the UK in January for Deep Purple but probably all their tickets are sold out…
