News: On Christmas Day – MAGNUM Special with Bob Catley and The Ballads (December 2016)

Bob Catley - Magnum

Melodic pomp rockers Magnum release a new compilation album in January via SPV.  Called ‘The Valley of Tears – The Ballads’ it features a selection of carefully chosen tracks from previous albums that have been re-visited, remixed or re-recorded.

It was Tony Clarkin’s daughter who suggested that he might compile a definitive selection of songs reflecting the band’s back catalogue of ballads.

On Christmas Day at 22:00 GMT on Get Ready to ROCK! Radio, David Randall chats to the band’s Bob Catley in a two-hour special which features tracks from the new album plus some of Bob’s side projects, as well as a handful of classic Magnum pieces.

Says David: “Magnum have been long-standing favourites here at Get Ready to ROCK! and to tie in with our tenth anniversary in 2012 – and the 40th anniversary of their formation – they were made our ambassadors.  This opened up a year of continuous promotion of the band’s music which included several radio specials not least one presented by another long-standing supporter Malcolm Dome.”

“My own interest in the band’s music dates from the 1990s and off and on since that time I’ve spoken with various band members.  My last chat with Bob was in late-2011 so this two-hour special brings the story up to date especially with the recent announcement that Mark Stanway has left the band…”

Magnum have a busy schedule already planned out for 2017.  This includes recording a new studio album (for 2018 release) and a tour (with orchestra) in the spring.
