News: Get Ready to ROCK! announce Best of 2017 – top albums, live acts

Pop rock revivalists Cats In Space and their second album ‘Scarecrow’ has been selected as Top Album of 2017 by popular music website Get Ready to ROCK!  Reviews Editor Jason Ritchie wrote “Cats In Space have succeeded in taking their love of 70′s music and adding a modern shine to it all, purrrfect.”

Top Live Act award goes to Black Star Riders who consolidated their popularity this year with a new album and touring.  Live Editor Dave Wilson is a big fan and, reviewing the band in Edinburgh, described them as “one of the most consistent live acts on the circuit”.

Breakthrough Act was named as Eliza Neals who Blues Editor Pete Feenstra described as “the most original and hardest hitting voice to come out of the Detroit blues scene for years”.

Since 2003 the website has published a selection of ‘Best of’ the year, as chosen by their reviewers.

There are always some surprises.  As Reviews Editor Jason Ritchie points out: “The list includes the less obvious and reflects the eclectic tastes and nature of the website.”

Managing Editor David Randall adds: “2017 marked our fifteenth year and I’m happy to say for most of that time we have maintained our superb review team.  This means that our end of year selections build into a definitive listing and reflect the writers’ knowledge and authority.”
