Album review: ROBIN GEORGE – Rogue Angels

Angel Air Music [Release date 18.05.18]

Robin George is back with a new album and one which he plays all the instruments, bar his long time associate Charlie Morgan (Elton John) on drums. He is also sticking with Angel Air who have done such a good job in the past releasing his various solo albums and the Love Power project amongst others.

The good thing with any Robin George album is that he knows his way around a good melody and guitar solo. ‘Play Nice’ features a lovely guitar solo, whilst the slide on ‘Rush’ – the song’s riffs recall T.Rex - to blissful to the ears. It is a very strong album throughout, mixing melodic rock and his love of a good blues riff.

There is a cheeky nod to his past with the riff of his biggest hit ‘Heartline’ featured on the title track. Also in a nod to his past, he has revamped his first single ‘Go Down Fighting’. The original was about being unemployed and on the dole, this updated version is about coping with modern life.

Robin George has plugged in and followed his muse to produce one of his most enjoyable albums to date. Now hopefully this new music may lead to live dates, until then turn up and enjoy! ****
