PICTUREHOUSE Riptide [Release date 25.05.18]
‘Riptide’, written by frontman Dave Browne with Swedish songwriter and producer Adam Kviman, is the first new material the band have released since 2013’s ‘Evolution’ album. This single is also the first recording featuring the 4 original members of Dave Browne, Johnny Boyle, Aongus Ralston and Geoff Woods since 1998.
‘Riptide’ showcases Dave Browne’s vocals which if anything have a lovely melodic sound. How PictureHouse have never replicated their success in their native Ireland elsewhere is a real mystery and hopefully ‘Riptide’ will go some ways to redressing this. A perfect pop song. ****

SHARON LAZIBYRD Blood On Bone
I have enjoyed Sharon Lazibyrd’s singles to date and this latest one, ‘Blood On Bone’ continues that trend. Joining Sharon (vocals and viola), are Pressgang’s Damian Clarke (hammered dulcimer), Damon Bridge (piano) and Tom Cory (bass). She has been gaining exposure for her music via BBC Introducing and BBC 6 Music.
‘Blood On Bone’ is something different as it features a sparse and atmospheric arrangement, with Sharon’ vocals sitting nicely on top of the music. The hammered dulcimer adds an interesting twist to the music.
Her debut album ’Half Shame and Half Glory’ is released on 8 June and one to watch out for. ****
