Album review: TIFFANY – Pieces Of Me

TIFFANY - Pieces Of Me

Go On Then Records [Release date 05.10.18]

Tiffany sold over 15m albums to date and most will know her for her worldwide hit ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ in 1987. She has been releasing albums since then that have covered pop, country and more, however on this new album she has produced an album she admits people wouldn’t expect from her. It has a real rock vibe running throughout it, aided by various guest musicians including Big Country drummer Mark Brzezicki and LA Guns bassist Johnny Martin.

Tiffany has a wonderfully rich vocal, that can turn to a blues edge on ‘King Of Lies’ (complete with a tasty Hammond solo midway through), New Wave/Cars feel on ‘Heartbeat Away’ or hit the pop rock spot on ‘Beautiful’. The latter is a hit single if ever the song got enough streams/downloads in this modern age.

The ballad ‘Hey There’ is one to pluck on the old heartstrings, whilst album closer ‘Fall’ holds the biggest surprise. Led in by rhythmic drums/percussion and a grungy guitar riff, before Tiffany lets rip on an impassioned vocal – a real tour de force.

Tiffany wanted to record an album that has been in her musical heart a long time and it is one of the year’s most pleasant surprises. An album full of top notch melodic rock/pop rock highlighting an artist at the top of their game and producing music from the heart. ****
