MelodicRock Records [Release date 15.03.19]
Martie Peters is back after a ten-year absence from the hard rock scene with a new album and record label. Joining him is long time Martie Peters Group bassist Bent “BJ” Joergensen, plus Eric Ragno (keyboards), Konstantin Raidovski (guitars) and Felix Engel (drums). Legendary producer Neil Kernon (Dokken, Hall & Oates, Queensrÿche) handled the mix.
Martie Peters has a high ranging vocal, not unlike fellow Dane Mike Tramp in his White Lion days, which proves perfect for the glam stomp of ‘No Win Situation’ or the AOR-tastic opener ‘When The Circus Hits The City’.
Eric Ragno adds plenty of keys throughout the album, none more so than on ‘The Devil’s Bargain’, a song that would be all over the radio back in the day. One of those songs that once you have finished hearing you want to hit repeat straight away. ‘My Dreams Die Hard’ with its harmony filled chrous is another song that demands repeated players, the keys, guitars and vocals joining sublimely on the song’s outro.
Konstantin Raidovski’s guitar playing adds bite to the keys and melodies, with a suitably grandiose solo on the ballad ‘Walk Tall’.
Great to have Martie Peters back – just don’t leave it so long next time please! ‘Unfinished Business’ is a melodic hard rock delight, sure to please existing fans and win over a few new ones too. ****
