CONSTANT FOLLOWER - Set Aside Some Time

CONSTANT FOLLOWER – Set Aside Some Time

Sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you’ll stumble across a band that will truly make your heart swell and your life better. Constant Follower are one such band. Changing greys to multi coloured pastel hues and setting off fireworks in your synapses, the absolutely gorgeous ‘Set Some Time Aside’ is the aural equivalent of a warm bath in an idyllic country cottage, peace washing over you. Both simple in its approach yet intriguingly multi-layered you can’t be anything but charmed by its other-worldly patina that speaks of gentler times whilst tugging at the very soul of modern life with its message of much needed rest and introspection.

Like your favourite malt whisky, this is something to be savored as it envelops you in its loving arms. Sublime. *****

ARCADIAN TEMPLE – Arcadian Temple

This is big. Huge, spacey and ambitious NWOBHM that has elements of prog, packing a hefty punch. The project is a joint venture between Alex Perry of Mythra and Trebuchet’s Dave Gilbert, the two men bringing their years of experience into their most monumental piece of work yet. Sure, it has some of the slightly raw edges of the DIY ethic of that classic early 80’s era but that just adds an authenticity to it all and the duo have pushed themselves hard into creating this epic. A work that has the scale of Diamond Head’s ‘Canterbury’ with a better production, this is certainly something that will be cherished by many who have one foot in those halcyon days and another planted firmly in the present. ***
