Swiss band The Beauty Of Gemina have just released their second UK single ‘A Night Like This’ , taken from their forthcoming album ‘Skeleton Dreams’. Frontman Michael Sele tells us more about the band and their music…
Can you describe the band’s sound? Would you agree there are some really strong melodic ‘goth’ influences in there…?
Once after a concert, a good friend of mine gave me the perfect description and I feel free to quote – a mix of warm, hypnotic blues, ambient melancholia, and earthy, indie-influenced folk. So, let’s add a drop of darkness in the elixir, that’s the secret of my Geminaland!
Which artists, past and present, have influenced your music?
I’ve listened so many music and still do, its difficult to name one. There are always quite different artist and bands on my list. I listen to classic music, Jazz, Metal, from Dylan to Björk, from David Bowie to Marylin Manson, from AC/DC to Fink, Oldfield, Pink Floyd, The Cure, U2, etc., etc, etc. I believe it is just this passion for music, which has driven me and inspired me.
The Beauty of Gemina are very well established in the rest of Europe – are you excited to be releasing music in the UK?
In any event. I bought a lot of albums of British musicians. I spent many holidays in beautiful England. I even watched the weddings of the royal family, its about time to get something back
