Crowned ‘Best New Band’ at Planet Rock Radio’s ‘The Rocks 2020’ awards, Attic Theory have released a couple of singles ahead of this EP. Since forming in late 2017, Attic Theory have supported the likes of the Soapgirls, Saving Abel, Elvana (an Elvis fronted Nirvana tribute band!) and Candlebox.
The band’s line-up consists of vocalist Lewis Wright, guitarists Peter Donnelly, Tim Cunningham and Matt Lawler, bassist Kenny McArthur and drummer Matt Simon.
The three pronged guitar attack does give the band a heavy, riff based sound that can verge from heads down, headbanging metal on ‘Doesn’t Matter’ through to the more grunge based ‘My Own Design’.
‘Marionette’ is a great fist pumping anthem with very timely lyrics. Lewis Wright has a decent set of pipes that’s pretty evident on this one and the rest of the EP. The riff on this one is top notch. The pace does drop on ‘Your Light’, straight from the Alter Bridge school of velvet glove music with an iron fist lyric.
A very impressive EP that shows Attic Theory have plenty of promise and sure to win them even more fans & plaudits. Good work fellas! ****
