Captain Naysayer, a Belgian rock n roll band, which started in their words, as a wet dream of Daan and Evert from rockband The DeVilles. Looking for other musicians to share in an adventure of 70’s inspired rock and roll, bass player Bazz Bear of Mimi Lebonq liked their way of thinking and joined them in their quest. He was quickly followed by Tom, a former classmate of Daan, who joined them on keyboards. There was still a vacancy for a much needed a voice to represent their groovy tunes – Arthur fits the bill nicely.
This is classic 70’s rock, done well, an interesting and accomplished debut EP – well worth a listen, with all 6 tracks showcasing different aspects from heavy rock to ballad style arrangements. It is so encouraging that new bands are starting out and making original rock music especially given the difficulties the ongoing global situation presents for musicians and live music.
This 6 track EP sets out everything you need to know about the promise that this band holds – I suspect the future is looking bright, I’d be amazed if we don’t see them on a bill of a festival in the not too distant future (Covid permitting!) First single ‘Living Again’ is out now alongside the EP. Track of choice for me ‘Blue-eyed Mask’.
Captain Naysayer are fresh and different, whilst also paying homage to the classics 70’s (think Rainbow, Led Zeppelin) – this is 70’s rock with a reinvigorated energy, check them out. ***
