Single reviews: PYLON POETS, AILYN, TABOO, BETH NIELSEN CHAPMAN

pylon poets

Pylon Poets are back with a new single ‘Remedy’, released as the follow up to the band’s 2020 EP ‘Lucid Hallucinations’. Combining feelings of disillusion, growth, heartbreak and betrayal ‘Remedy’ packs a powerful punch as the band hone their rock side. Raw, powerful and another good song from Pylon Poets.

Ailyn’s (Trail of Tears, ex-Sirenia) new project, Lunarian has released a second single and video, ‘Endless Sleep’, from the upcoming album ‘Burn The Beauty’, which is due on September 9 via Frontiers.

It is a nice little bit of symphonic melodic metal which bodes well for the new album. Also out the same day and on the same label is the self-titled debut from Taboo. Taboo features vocalist Christoffer Stjerne (HERO) and guitarist Kenneth Hammer (Pretty Maids) with ‘Learning To Breathe’ the third song released ahead of the album’s release. Good, strong melody and reminiscent of Shinedown in their less shouty/preachy moments. Modern rock done well and enough to entice the listener onto their album.

Beth Nielsen Chapman has released ‘With Time’ off her upcoming album – her fifteenth – ‘Crazy Town’ due on September 23 via Cooking Vinyl. It is a gentle and reflective piano led ballad, which allows her vocals centre stage.

The other song released at the same time is a right blues stomper ‘Hey Girl (We Can Deal With It)’, complete with a lovely bit of harmonica playing. Beth Nielsen Chapman is at home singign a ballad as she is on a blues sing-a-long, quality will always shine bright.

Beth Nielsen Chapman may not be overly well known here in the UK outside of her exisiting fan base, however, a new album and extensive autumn tour should see her rightly increase her profile.
