Album review: THE MOON CITY MASTERS – The Famous Moon City Masters

The Moon City Masters - The Famous Moon City Masters

Facebook [Release date 04.11.22]

The Moon City Masters, aka brothers Jordan and Talor Steinberg, unleash their 70s infused debut album upon us. Despite rivalling Nelson in the hair product stakes, the Moon City Masters have their musical roots firmly in the 70s, be it a touch of rock, AOR, soul or funk. They mix it all up with a modern sheen and create their own, highly listenable sound.

‘Takin’ It Back’ just does taking the listener back to a 70s vibe, full of rock with a funky edge. Reminds me of Canadian pomp rockers Prism. ‘Send It On’ treads a similar path, perhaps owing more to the mighty Boston in their 70s prime, especially on the acoustic guitar passages. The 70s rock party keeps on going with ‘Over Now’. On this one a tasty bit of keys playing takes centre stage, whilst on ‘Real Thing’ we go all funky a la Tommy Bolin’s solo albums.

The Moon City Masters have vocal harmonies aplenty as they complement each others vocals perfectly, none more so than on ‘Where You Wanna Run To’. You can almost feel the warmth of the sunny music coming out of the speakers…

‘Draw The Line’, with its fast guitar soloing is like the Outlaws jamming with the Allman Brothers, albeit with just the one guitarist!

Perfect set of tunes for an uplifting listen and get in early, as the Moon City Masters are surely destined for bigger things. ****
