Single review: BROTHERS OF METAL – Berserkir

With 3 vocalists, 3 guitarists, bass, drums and anvil (!), you’re bound to have a BIG sound. And the Swedish Power Metal band who brought us the highly successful Emblas Saga (2020), The Brothers of Metal, prove this to be so.
‘Berserkir’ is the lead trailer track from their forthcoming album.

The Berserkir were the Odin worshipping shock troops attached to the Norwegian Royal Court in medieval times.

The track reflects the aggressive stance taken by the troops. Much chanting, feet in the dust rhythms and full on vocals, like that of the Germanic tribe decimated by Maximus at the start of the movie “Gladiator”.

It’s melodic though, in its own way. The growling vocals of Mats Nillson are tuned into the richly melodious vocal tones of Yiva Erilsson (The Voice of The Valkyries) to great effect. Together they carry this song to … well, glory. ****
