JOSH TAERK Hold On Virginia AMG/Sony Music
Josh is well known to readers of this site, and indeed listeners of GRTR! Radio, as his monthly live sessions with his family have been a treat since 2020. Now we have a new song from him – hurrah! It is an upbeat piece of pop rock with a neat country twist, and perfect for blasting out on these summer days & nights.
He has also signed a publishing deal with AMG/Sony, so here’s hoping more new music will be arriving soon!
SUZI QUATRO & KT TUNSTALL Shine A Light Sun Label Group
Suzi Quatro shows no signs of slowing down, both creatively and performing live. After an enjoyable soul covers EP she has now teamed up with KT Tunstall to record an album of original duets.
This is the lead single from the album ‘Face To Face’ which is due on August 11. On the album the duo covers themes of love and loss, fear and triumph. An uplifting melody with powerful lyrics, it bodes well for the album and their two voices complement each other well.
ALICE COOPER I’m Alice earMUSIC
Alice Cooper returns with a new album, the first of two he has been working on. Simply called ‘Road’, the concept album is due on August 25 with Bob Ezrin in the producer’s chair.
The song introduces Alice (as if he needed any introduction!) and you can see this one opening his live shows. It has a 70s feel in the guitars and rhythm sound, along with Ghost approved harmonies on the harmony vocal parts.
Not bad at all.
DEGREED This Is Love Frontiers
Another song released ahead of their new album ‘Public Address’ on July 7. Now this reviewer has never quite been drawn into the hype fellow melodic rock fans have shown around this band. However, this new song is a melodic rock monster! Keys, harmonies, guitar crunch and the soaring vocals of Robin Eriksson, all combine into one of the melodic rock anthems of the summer.
Their upcoming album is shaping up to be one of the ‘must haves’ of the year.
CONEY HATCH It’s About A Girl Cleopatra Records
Guess what? Yep, the new live album (and first official live release) from Canadian rockers Coney Hatch is due in August. Entitled ‘Postcard From Germany (Live)’ and this is a new studio recording is an added treat for their fans.
Coney Hatch have kept pretty much their original line-up with vocalist Carl Dixon, bassist Andy Curran, and drummer Dave Ketchum joined by guitarist Sean Kelly, who has been with since 2018.
A classic Coney Hatch song being catchy, full of hooks and one that will please the band’s fans.
