EP review: VALHALLA AWAITS – Perdition

VALHALLA AWAITS - Perdition

Facebook [Release date 08.03.24]

Having seen Phil Campbell and TBS perform at Hard Rock Hell festival a couple of times I was excited to hear Andrew Hunt featured on this EP by Valhalla Awaits, so was expecting nothing less than great.

My expectations were met with immediate roaring heavy guitar riffs. Oh yes! This was gonna be good!

“Door of No Return” -  gritty and heavy with an amazing vocal range. The guitar solo on this was also killer! Absolutely loved the nod to the Death metal vocal in this as well.

“Staring at the Gun” – slower in pace but still delivering an abundance of grit. Had almost a hint of country rock going on here. Get your whiskey and raise a glass is the feel I get with this track. The guitar solos are getting better and better with each track too. the showcase of talent is insane.

“Is There Anybody Out There” the ballad of the EP if you wanted to call it that. I call a track of phenomenal vocals. Absolutely stunning! Can see this one being a firm favourite for live shows. The melodic breakdown in the middle of this song was so satisfying on the eardrums too!

“We Remain” this is a track I would one hundred percent be dancing to at a live show. Faster paced with a great melodic hook.

“All Hope Is Lost” – what a way to end an EP! They came out swinging with this one!

This was an absolute knockout of an EP for me from Valhalla Awaits. For someone who is a fan of gritty heavy rock and outstanding vocals and musical talent this is exactly what was delivered. I was not disappointed, quite frankly I cannot fault this. I will be on the lookout for anything new musically from this band and will most definitely be attending a live show. Absolutely phenomenal.  *****
