Single review : KMFDM – Let Go

For some musicians, a band name that describes their political aspirations takes precedent over commerciality. And so in 1984 Sascha Konietsko’s “performance art project” became Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, quickly abbreviated to KMFDM.

Now on their 23rd album, time has proved that the only thing they can be sure of, as they address “the social, political and cultural ills of a world in perpetual turmoil”, is that they’ll never run out of subject matter.

From its eighties’ new wave opening, ‘Let Go’, the first single from forthcoming album (2/2/24) pares down the trimmings to a loud and relentless rhythmic pulse, underlining Konietsko’s simple, visceral message.

Konietsko has always been wise to the value of hypnotically repetitive musical motifs and high calibre, pop quality tunes. And once again his aim is true. ****
