Album review: ELECTRIC TEMPLE – High Voltage Salvation

ELECTRIC TEMPLE - High Voltage Salvation

Eonian Records [Release date 06.12.24 ]

An interesting trend in recent years has been for vocalist/frontmen to spread their largesse, perhaps due to economic as much as creative reasons. So, for example, we have that arch moonlighter Ronnie Romero in bands such as Lords Of Black and Sunstorm. And, here, Andrew Freeman is taking time out from regular band Last Of Line (fans of whom should look-in).

This is muscular hard rock in the vein of, say, Lynch Mob who Freeman once fronted. It is of course lifted by Freeman’s larynx whilst Tony Childs (and the band’s main protagonist) provides the relentless guitar heft sometimes with the ubiquitous talkbox and with a neo-Sabbath grind. Matt Starr on drums (ex-Ace Frehley) and Mike Duda on bass (W.A.S.P.) complete the line-up.

The album rallies with three of the strongest tracks ‘World’s On Fire’, ‘Am I Damned’ and ‘The Storm’.

As you might expect Freeman carries the proceedings. As with any album, and any new venture, It’s the impact of the songs and the quality of the writing (and playing) that’s all important, and in truth this album offers nothing new or radical. It’s just a solid affair befitting of its contributors. You would expect nothing less. ***1/2
