Reigning Pheonix Music [Release date 06.03.26]
Leave’s Eyes have been around since 2003 and still feature vocalist (growls), keyboards player and producer Alexander Krull, with Finnish soprano Elina Siirala fronting the band since 2016. The EP also marks the recording debut of guitarist Florian Ewert, and a new label as they move from AFM Records to Reigning Phoenix Music (home of Helloween, Orden Ogan, U.D.O. and more).
The title track has been released ahead of the EP and makes for a sound choice, as it is perfect to entice the listener into delving into the EP. Plenty of symphonic might to be heard on this song.
‘Hall of the Brave’ is a classic Leaves’ Eyes song, full of choral and orchestral oomph, and the contrasting vocals of Siirala and Krull. ‘Until the Last Day’ continues the musical theme, and you’ve got to marvel and love the sheer pomp of the music and arrangements.
‘Roots Eternal’ brings the tempo down slightly and gives a rousing end to this enjoyable, but all too brief, EP.
Leaves’ Eyes fans will be more than satisfied with this EP which keeps them at the top of the symphonic metal tree. ****
