TOXIC FEDERATION – ‘Distance’

Cargo Records 2012

(Ed’s note: band now called Fahran)

This Midlands based band were formed in 2006 yet have an average age of just 20 and if their new album  is anything to go by, then they deserve to be right up there with the current wave of young British bands that are doing well for themselves.

Toxic Federation have once again taken the producers chair for 3rd album “Distance” and a fine job they have made of it too. The band are clearly influenced by Iron Maiden and you need look no further than tracks such as “World’s End Road”, “My Resolution” or “Dearest Friend” for evidence of this.

Other highlights amongst the 10 tracks on offer include “Clear Skies”, “Motorway Asylum”, “Life of Mine” and “White Lies”. Some of the lyrics may appear a little fumbled in part but you have to remember that the band is still relatively young- give them a couple of years and they will be unstoppable.

Having already supported the likes of UFO, The Answer and Diamond Head, surely the next step for Toxic Federation is a deal that will give them the required exposure to take it up a notch. This is definitely a band to watch.
