The Scandi rockers of days of yore release “Bag of bones”, following the critically acclaimed “Last look at Eden” in 2009.
This is more a blues rock affair than the AOR rock of the 80’s and 90’s, with Tempest and the lads getting in touch with their blues side. John Norum is in fine form with his guitar work, while Joey Tempest performs well with a voice that has changed immensely since the heady days of “Final Countdown”. All the songs are most enjoyable (“Not supposed to sing the blues” really caught my attention) with a rawer sound and feel to what one would expect from the band. With Kevin Shirley manning the dials, I can assure you this was intended.
Europe may have changed their tune somewhat, but they remain fine musicians and this work is testament to that.
