BLOODBOUND – In The Name Of Metal

One look at the track names and you know what to expect especially with an album called “In the Name of Metal”! After the title track we have “Bonebreaker”, “Metalheads Unite”, “Mr Darkness” and “I’m Evil” to name a few but I’m sure you get the picture.
Bloodbound are in fact Swedish in origin and were founded back in 2004 with there first album “Nosferatu” being released in 2006 with Urban Breed on vocals. Urban then left and Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart) handled vocals on follow up “Book of the Dead”. Third album “Tabula Rise” saw Urban Breed returning again but soon left to be replaced by current vocalist Patrik Johansson for 2011’s “Unholy Cross”. Consistency across the years has been provided by founder members Tomas Olsson (guitars) and Fredrik Bergh (keyboards).
Opener “In the Name of Metal” kicks off with a Rob Halford blood curdling scream which sets the tone for the whole album – no holds barred typical Teutonic metal – so if you like Judas Priest, Primal Fear, Accept etc you will find much to enjoy. Main quibble is that all songs are very similar in style and they all sort of merge into one but at least none of them overstay their welcome – all under the 5 minute mark.
An enjoyable, even if generic, release. Play it loud!!
