Dramatico www.triggerfinger.net Released April 15th
Three piece band from Belgium featuring guitarist/vocalsit Ruben Block, drummer Mario Goossens and bass player Paul Van Bruystegem (aka Monsieur Paul). The album was produced by Greg Gordon in the famous Sound City studio, recently back in the limelight thanks to Dave Grohl’s upcoming film on the studio.
This is an album that has a few instant songs like the single and title track, that sounds like the Queens of the Stone Age (QUOTSA) and in fact the QUOTSA feel is back on the driving rocker ‘Cherry’. Other songs like ‘My Baby’s Got A Gun’ and ‘I’m Coming For You’ see vocalist Ruben Block hit the high notes to create a very eery effect. At the other of the scale they have a little country twang on ‘I Follow Rivers’ and one of the three bonus songs the acoustic ‘Soon’ carries on this theme. It is quite amazing the vocal dynamics that Ruben Block manages, all this and he is a pretty nifty guitarist as well.
Triggerfinger have already built a decent following and reputation and this album should see them step up a level. There is much to enjoy on here and whilst you wait for the upcoming QOTSA album this will keep you busy.
