This album is the follow-up to Robin George’s hit album ‘Dangerous Music’ and it was meant to be released back in 1986. However his then management company went to market and because of the success of the single ‘Heartline’ sought such high advances that the album was never released. Finally Angel Air release it and thank goodness they did as it is great!
As you would expect the musical template follows that of ‘Dangerous Music’ with Robin George taking the 80′s synth pop sound and successfully adding guitar crunch, along with his distinctive high end vocals. The title track has a hint of a ‘Heartline’ riff in it, whilst ‘Heart To Heart’ is a cracking 80′s pop rocker.
There is plenty of musical variety with softer rock on offer with ‘Heart To Heart’, which could have been another ‘Heartline’ hit I am sure. The electronic pop duo of ‘Machine Machine’ and ‘Computer Games’ do sound very much of their time mainly due to the synths, but they are still good songs.
There is also ‘Red For Danger’ on here, a song recorded by Robert Plant and the poignant ‘Ace In My Hand’, his tribute to former Uriah Heep vocalist David Byron, who he worked with.
If you have a copy of ‘Dangerous Music’ in your collection then you need part 2 as well. Classy pop rock with lots of synths and enjoyable melodies. Often sequels don’t live up to the originals, luckily in this case that doesn’t apply. ****
