Pop prog rockers Stackridge played their “Farewell” Tour in late 2015 and their gig at The Fiddlers Club, Bristol on 19 December 2015 is released on 14 July by Angel Air Records.
The band appeared at the formative Glastonbury Festival (then called Pilton Festival) in 1970 along with Tyrannosaurus Rex (later T-Rex) and established themselves in the next decade with a cult following who warmed to their mix of English whimsy, clever lyrics and fine musicianship. They straddled pop, progressive and rock idioms.
The band’s chief songwriters James Warren (pictured) and Andy Davis would go on to wider commercial success with The Korgis in the 1980s.
For their farewell gig, the band were joined by stalwart Mutter Slater for two tracks.
The 2-CD collection is the 500th release by specialist classic rock label Angel Air Records who are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2017. The CD liner includes contributions from long-time manager Mike Tobin and various fan reminiscences.
