Guitarist Dennis Heltorp and drummer Henrik Zetterlund formed the Senior Management in 2015. They recruited vocalist Göran Edman (Malmsteen/John Norum/Kharma/Street Talk et al) and bassist Magnus Rosen to complete the band, so far so AOR. However, the twist comes in their music which adds a little bit of country to the proceedings and it works well.
‘He’s The Man’ mixes a nifty guitar solo and melodic rock melody with fiddle and banjo. It does sound as though it shouldn’t work but it does and then some. It helps having a talented vocalist like Göran Edman fronting the band as his vocals are made for classy melodic rock.
‘Jet Leg In Shanghai’ is one of the better melodic rock songs you’ll here this year. It is so damn catchy, like Brother Firetribe go country. ‘I See The Light’ is another piece of ear candy, with a strong chorus and again a clever mix of rock and country in the music.
‘When You Walk Down’ is made for those lovers of a tear jerker ballad and one I am sure will be played at weddings judging by the lyrics. Just when you think you have the measure of their musical agenda, they go and get the 70′s funk out on ‘Speak With Your Eyes’ – Journey approved harmonies and a funky rhythm. If that wasn’t enough you will love the funk guitar solo that gives way to a more traditional rock one.
Who said management can’t be fun? The Senior Management certainly put a smile on your face with their songs and a nice twist adding a country flavour to the proceedings. More please! ****
