EP review: THE SELF-TITLED – Beers & Bulls

THE SELF-TITLED - Beers & Bulls

http://www.theselftitled.com

Four piece the Self-Titled have been around a few years, releasing their debut album ‘Defaced’ in 2012 and now they have a new four song EP ‘Beers & Bulls’ out. The band consist of vocalist Tom Procter, drummer Paul Brander, lead guitarist Philipp Hall and bass player Steve Burwell.

The title track swaggers in full of riffs and guitars, with a nice guitar solo midway through a song that recalls Sabbath, RATM and Faith No More (you can here that band’s influence on ‘Breathe’ as well) – nice! ‘Disintegration’ is one for fans of classic, no frills metal. Variety is certainly something you get with Self-Titled.

‘Fear And Loathing’ fair strips the paint off the walls and like the rest of songs on here it has a strong underlying melody.

Very impressive EP from the Self-Titled, mixing metal and elements of rap, rock and funk to good effect. ****
