Single review: WOOD BURNT RED – Fire Me Up

Now we’re talking – a UK southern rock band with country and Americana influences.
Fire Me Up is a song about resilience, fighting in the face of adversity, flipping the bird to your doubters. It hits you with a killer riff, then drops!………. like off the edge of a cliff you didn’t even know was there. Tom Franklins baritone voice washes over and seduces you before you can say foot to the floor. The song bursts into life, motoring along, with more hook lines than a fishing competition. The middle eight creeps up on you, like starting a canoe ride on a calm river, then hitting faster water and before long you are full on white water rapid riding, guitars raging and bass and drums pounding and stomping. One final chorus and out! This is real authentic hard hitting rock n roll with a southern rock twist, and I’m proud to say it’s a UK band.
Man that is a good voice in front of a great band, with obvious comparisons to the Brothers Osbourne, with the likes of Elles Bailey saying they are the UK equivalent of said band.
Fire Me Up is a co write with Nashville based producer Tyler Spicer, and is the first single from forthcoming album Hold On Tight due for September release. If the other 10 tracks on the album are anywhere near as good as this they have a sure fire hit of a debut album on their hands. *****
