Brent Enman – Wildman

Two Sides Moon/SLW 2012

Brent Enman is literally a one man band. He plays all the instruments on this record and provides all the vocals and harmonies, I assume he also made his own tea in the studio. This line up could be a bit restrictive in a live setting though unless he is part octopus !

He is a talented individual though and is very proficient on all the instruments he tackles here. Opener ‘ All For The Show’ is a good example, it is a well constructed metal track reminiscent of the early 80’s NWOBHM sound and shows off Brent’s unquestionable talent.  The album contains both reflective acoustic led numbers and all out rockers which showcase Enman’s songwriting prowess well.

The actual album production isn’t the best, sounding a bit flat and for all his talents the songs do sound like a sum of parts rather than a cohesive group sound, possibly because that is exactly what they are.

Brent is a talented guy and this release is a good showcase for his work, it’s not entirely convincing though, perhaps calling a few friends the next time would put a different slant on things.
