Countdown to GuilFest’s 21st Birthday, 13th – 15th July in Stoke Park, Guildford! Under two weeks to go!!
GuilFest’s 21st anniversary is coming round fast – there are now under 2 weeks to go until the UK’s premier family festival and the line up is now complete! A truly eclectic mix of the crème de la crème of live music, DJs, theatre and comedy, set across 12 stages in the idyllic surroundings of Stoke Park, Guildford.
The Main Stage this year is headlined by the king of boogie woogie, Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra featuring Roland Gift (of Fine Young Cannibals fame) on Friday, singer/songwriter of the moment Olly Murs on Saturday and legendary Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry on Sunday. They are supported by The Straits, Tulisa and Chic (featuring Nile Rodgers) respectively. The Main Stage also plays host to a huge variety of other top acts over the weekend, including The South (formerly The Beautiful South), Jimmy Cliff, Cher Lloyd, StooShe, Candi Staton, Alvin Stardust, Republica, Bjorn Again, Beth Hart and many, many more!
The Good Time Guide Stage has probably its strongest line up ever, Headed up by 80’s institution ABC on Friday, electro pioneer Gary Numan on Saturday, and indie heroes Ash on Sunday; with a wealth of incredible acts appearing all weekend including Tim Minchin, Heaven 17, Nouvelle Vague, Dodgy, The Wonder Stuff (Acoustic), The Doors Alive, The Wurzels, Bastille, ahab, and Simon Friend (Levellers) to name but a few…
The Big Cheese Cave, the GuilFest home for all things rock, is topped by Kids In Glass Houses, Skindred and Young Guns on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with performances from Black Spiders, Devil Sold His Soul, Rolo Tomassi, Rubberbandits, Yashin, Feed The Rhino and a whole host of other great bands – and don’t forget that the incredibly popular Vive Le Rock Punk and Ska stage returns for the second year running with an immense line up including Buzzcocks, The Beat, The Undertones, The Skints, and Stone Foundation (featuring Nolan Porter).
Lovers of the electronic are also well catered for as usual, with The Kane FM presents Funky End Dance Tent literally bursting at the seams with some of the best DJs the UK has to offer – Benga, Andy C, Sub Focus, Friction, Brookes Brothers, Subscape, Dismantle, Millions Like Us, Pyramid, and Sigma are just a few of the great acts that will be pounding out rhythms ‘til the early hours.
For everyone who likes things a little more chilled, The Acoustic Lounge has a superb line up of fantastic singer/songwriters and acts including Steve Appleton, Charley Farley Sunday Four and even the legendary Mungo Jerry!
Elsewhere you’ll find wonderful and truly unique theatrical performances from Grease to Lewis Carrolls’ Jabberwocky all weekend long in The Man In the Moon Theatre Tent and the eFestivals Cosmic Comedy Lounge has some of the best comedians on the circuit today including Jarred Christmas, Mitch Benn and Simon Evans! There is also Farmer Giles Barndance, La Discotheque, The Mutiny Rock Cave After Party, and many more exciting areas for you to explore, as well as a unique family friendly atmosphere you simply can’t find anywhere else! The legendary KidZone of GuilFest really is one of the best on the festival circuit, and this year features VIP guest appearances from Postman Pat and Jess The Cat on Saturday and Zak and Panzee from The ZingZillas on Sunday. On top of this, you can expect more shows, fun and games than ever before with performances from the Booster Seat Theatre Company of Hansel, Gretal and you.. who? and Alan In Wonderland as well as great acts involving dare devil stunts and fantastic fire-shows.
