Singles Bar: THE ENEMY, WATCHERS, AHEAD OF IDEAS

THE ENEMY ‘This Is Real’ (Released 22nd October)

Another single lifted of their current top 10 album ‘Streets In The Sky’. This single also features on a four track EA Sports Fifa 13 EP, so plenty of exposure then. Like many Enemy songs it starts slow before becoming another rousing anthem, complete with terrace like chanting towards the end of the song – you can see why this one has been chosen for a football related EP. Sing it loud and enjoy!

WATCHERS – Cut The Ribbon/Every Night I Look Strong (Released 8th October)

They have supported the likes of the Charlatans and the Vaccines and this is their debut single, a good old fashioned double A-side! ‘Every Night I Look Strong’ is a lovely breezy pop tune, reminded me of the Undertones for some reason. ‘Cut The Ribbon’ is slightly more restrained but still a damn catchy tune. Worthy of a listen and a download.

CITY REIGN – Ahead Of Ideas (Released 5th November)

Lead single of the band’s upcoming album ‘Another Step’ and have already caught the ear of Steve Lamacq, a man who knows his way around a good tune and band. The song with its crisp, chiming guitar and low key vocals reminded me of REM in their 80′s period. Hard to judge a band on one song but this certainly has me wanting to hear more. Look out for the band in the coming months as they tour the UK in November.
